Maribel Aponte-García is a full professor and researcher at the Graduate School of Business and the Social Science Research Center, University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus; and former Caribbean Region Representative, Directing Committee, Latin American Social Science Research Council (CLACSO). PhD in Economics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Author of numerous refereed articles on regionalism, value chains, and enterprises; one video collection on Cuba; and four books on regionalism and Latin American and Caribbean development. Most recent works are on Cuba; the Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas; Geopolitics, regionalism, natural resources, and chain mapping, for which she was awarded the Ruy Mauro Marini Prize by CLACSO; and food sustainability and trade regimes in Bolivia. Latin American and Caribbean studies’ specialist.
